Graduation

Graduation fees

The responsibility of the school is to provide a Dogwood certificate upon the completion of Grade 12. As well, the school organizes events such as the graduation ceremonies to celebrate the completion of Grade 12. This event marks an important event in a student’s life (as well as for the family). Graduation is the point where students move on to new challenges, experiences, and friendships. The desire of graduates, family, and the community over the years, has been to develop certain ceremonies and traditions.

These activities bear a cost. Grad fees cover the expenses of all of the services, ceremonies, grad paraphernalia, and activities enjoyed by the Grads each year.

The fees for graduation are $150.00. Please make cheques payable to ‘Correlieu Secondary School’ and hand in to Stacey Gilbert in the school office. This is a single price for each Graduate and, unfortunately, they cannot pick and choose those items for which they would like to pay. To make it affordable for all students, it is necessary to charge all students.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Graduation Photograph Sitting Fee
  • Souvenir Commencement Program
  • Souvenir Mortarboard and Souvenir Tassel
  • Souvenir Key Chain
  • Commencement Certificate and Certificate Holder
  • Graduate Image on Framed Composite with rest of Graduation Class
  • Graduation Cake
  • Use of Graduation Gown and Correlieu Graduation Sash
  • DJ and Music Services at Commencement Ceremonies and other events
  • Rental of Arena (and other facilities) for Commencement and other events
  • Entertainment Draw Prizes
  • Decoration of Facilities
  • Food and Beverages
  • Custodial Expenses
  • Security Expenses

Additional Notes: Even if you are not purchasing a Photo package from the photographer, we want all grads to have their photo taken so that they can be part of the hallway composite and the yearbook.

If for some reason a student is unable to pay the fees, please contact Marissa Knauf at marissaknauf@sd28.bc.ca or call 250.992-7007, as we have funds available for such circumstances.

Should you have any questions regarding these fees, please do not hesitate to contact Marissa Knauf at 250 992-7007

Graduation Photos

Graduates will need to sit for photos. Students will need to book an appointment time. The first and longest session being offered will be in October. Shortly before the sessions open up, appointment lists will be posted in the Career Centre where students can sign up.

We encourage students to book their photos in October. If the October dates don't work or you need retakes, we ask you book in December.

This information will be on the monitors, over the announcements, posts on our Facebook page & in our newsletters. Those that miss the October sessions will be asked to book an appointment over the December session. October and December sessions are after school/evenings.

The cost of the sitting fee is included in the grad fees. Even if you are not purchasing a photo package from the photographer, we want all grads to have their photo taken so that they can be part of the hallway composite and the yearbook.

There is typically one last session in the spring during school time for those who missed the first two sessions - this session does not allow for the different backdrops or as many images to choose from with the proofs the first two sessions offer, but students will receive an image or two.

The photo packages ordered from Right Photography are an additional cost paid directly to the photographer.

Grad Gown Lending

Students wishing to be photographed in grad gowns outside of grad ceremonies can borrow a gown from the school.  A $50 deposit is required in cash.

The deposit is returned once gown is returned clean.  Families typically borrow gowns for family photos, hired photography sessions etc.

We do encourage a minimum pre-booking 24 hours before pick-up of the gown. This can be done by calling the school or emailing Stacey Gilbert or Larissa Kitamura.

We also ask for a quick turn-around time for those borrowing gowns as this is very popular and our lending gown supply is limited.
